Kelly Rowland has addressed the viral incident at the Cannes Film Festival, where she was captured in a heated exchange with a security guard on the red carpet for the premiere of "Marcello Mio" on May 21.

In an interview with the Associated Press at the amfAR Cannes Gala on May 23, the Destiny's Child alum clarified her stance, stating, "The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. I have a boundary, and I stand by those boundaries, and that is it."

Rowland, 43, also highlighted a concerning observation, saying, "There were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off." She firmly asserted, "I stood my ground, and she felt like she had to stand hers, but I stood my ground."

The incident unfolded on the Palais des Festivals staircase, where Rowland and the security guard engaged in a heated exchange. While Rowland's companions attempted to intervene, the guard persisted in moving them along the carpet.

Earlier this year, Rowland starred in Tyler Perry's erotic legal thriller, "Mea Culpa," which premiered on Netflix in February. She described the experience to PEOPLE as both "intimidating" and "a blessing," sharing how a friend's encouragement motivated her to embrace the challenge.
