COAS meets civil-military leadership during Germany visit

Gen Munir also witnesses a demonstration on urban warfare and inspected different training facilities, says ISPR

ISLAMABAD:

General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is currently on an official visit to Germany, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing.

During his visit, General Munir was welcomed by General Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence, at the Federal Ministry of Defence, where an Honour Guard ceremony by the German Armed Forces was held in his honour.

The army chief also held discussions with Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, Chief of the German Army, and toured the Army Combat Training Centre in Gardelegen. Here, he was briefed on the centre's various facets and observed the training being conducted for both the German Army and international contingents.

The COAS witnessed a demonstration on urban warfare and inspected different training facilities. The visit included high-level meetings with key civilian officials.

"The German leadership acknowledged Pakistan Army’s role in the fight against terrorism and its efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region," the ISPR statement noted.
