Minister acknowledges inadequate arrangements during matric exams

Ali Malkani promises disciplinary actions against officers found culpable

KARACHI:

Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards of Education Muhammad Ali Malkani has candidly admitted glaring inadequacies in the arrangements for the annual matric exams 2024. He expressed dismay over the insufficient number of examination centres, citing overcrowding and poor facilities that led to discomfort for candidates during the exams.

While speaking at an event hosted by the Rose Educational Society to honour the achievements of Umar Farooq, a bright student from Lyari, Malkani assured action against responsible officials.

He highlighted the issue of overcrowded examination centres, particularly those under the Board of Secondary Education Karachi. He stressed the need for immediate corrective measures and promised disciplinary actions against officers found culpable. Assuring transparency and accountability, Malkani pledged a transparent inquiry into allegations of results manipulation in previous matric exams.

Commending Umar Farooq's accomplishments, educationists underscored the significance of nurturing and celebrating talent. Praised was showered on Farooq, a student of Rose School, for developing an innovative application that helps the visually impaired by converting text into Braille.

Rafia Javed, Additional Director of Private Schools, lauded Farooq's achievements, reaffirming the pivotal role of educational institutions like Rose Educational Society in fostering excellence. She highlighted the society's longstanding commitment to educational advancement, boasting 32 campuses dedicated to shaping future leaders.

Anwar Ali Bhatti's visionary leadership in promoting Lyari's talent was recognised, with attendees noting the community's emerging prominence in various fields, including sports and academia.
