Wiig put a theory to the test during her twenties while residing in Arizona. She sought guidance from her own reflection on what path to take in life, and the response she received took her by surprise.

"I just said I would move to LA and try acting," Wiig explained. "And I was shocked, kind of, that that was what I was feeling. But that's what came out."

Following the mirror test, Wiig visited a nearby psychic, who also advised her to head westward to pursue acting and writing.

"And I went home and I packed up all my stuff. And I left the next day and I drove to Los Angeles," Wiig said.

After moving to LA, Wiig joined the improv comedy group The Groundlings, where she began writing and performing sketch comedy. She auditioned twice for SNL, eventually becoming a cast member in 2005.

Wiig describes her early days at SNL as both thrilling and terrifying.

"I knew it was going to be my family and I knew they were going to be my friends," she says. "And at the same time, I was very much like, 'OK, I'm the new girl. I just want to try to do my best.'"

Wiig remained a cast member on SNL until 2012. She has also appeared in several films, including Bridesmaids, which she co-wrote, Ghostbusters, and the Despicable Me series.
