AMC Theatres has begun listing IMAX 70 mm screenings for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey, more than a year ahead of its scheduled release on July 17, 2026.

While advance planning is standard for large-scale releases, listing IMAX tickets this far in advance is highly unusual and underscores the level of anticipation surrounding the film.

The Odyssey marks the first movie ever shot entirely on IMAX 70 mm film. The format played a major role in Nolan’s previous success with Oppenheimer, which earned significant box office revenue from premium formats alone.

The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Jon Bernthal.

Though plot details are tightly under wraps, the title and cast point toward a large-scale adaptation of Homer’s classic epic, possibly reimagined through Nolan’s signature lens of time and reality.

Production has spanned global locations, with reports of a $250 million budget. Though official trailers and marketing materials have yet to be released, AMC’s early preparation reflects both studio confidence and a growing trend of Nolan films becoming cinematic events.

While ticket listings may currently serve as placeholders, fans and cinephiles are already marking calendars for what promises to be one of 2026’s most anticipated releases.
