Katy Perry calls Ariana Grande “the best singer of our generation.”

Katy Perry compared Abi Carter’s, American Idol season 22 winner, voice to Ariana Grande. 

Perry shared to Extra about the winner saying, “I think she was authentic, I think she was humble, I think she was singing with an angelic frequency.” 

“The way that she sang from the heart and the cry and the crackle, it was just like, whoa. This is a whole ‘nother voice,” said the ‘Last Friday Night’ singer. 

“The voice is unlike anything I’ve heard in pop music,” Perry added.

The ‘When I’m Gone’ singer complimented the ‘Thank u, Next’ singer saying, “The last time I said that, I said that about Ariana Grande when she went on The Ellen [DeGeneres] Show. I was like, ‘Oh this girl is the best singer of our generation.’ So, I don’t say that lightly.”

Perry also confirmed in the Extra interview that she is ready to release her new album. 

“I have some things planned for this year,” said the ‘Did Somebody Say’ singer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! show.
