Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrate 6th wedding anniversary

Meghan and Prince Harry expressed their dedication and the importance of connecting with the people they aim to help.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary in a meaningful way, shortly after returning from a three-day visit to Nigeria. The trip focused on the Archewell Foundation's mental health initiatives for young people and promoting the Invictus Games, which Nigeria joined last year.

Their royal wedding, held on May 19, 2018, at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, was a fairytale affair attended by family and friends, including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and members of the royal family. Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, walked her down the aisle alongside Prince Charles.

Throughout their marriage, the couple has embraced unique traditions to mark their anniversaries, often exchanging gifts based on traditional themes like paper, cotton, and leather. This year, as they celebrate their sixth anniversary, the traditional gift is iron.

The trip to Nigeria held special significance for Meghan, who discovered her 43% Nigerian heritage through a genealogy test. The couple found the experience incredibly memorable and cherished the memories they made during their visit.

Both Meghan and Prince Harry expressed their dedication to their work and the importance of travelling to connect with the people they aim to help. They anticipate more travel opportunities in the future to further their various initiatives.

The Duke of Sussex expressed his happiness with the growth of the Invictus Games and the inclusion of Nigeria. He emphasised the significance of Africa to him and his joy in bringing the Games to the country.

For Meghan, the trip was a personal journey of connecting with her roots. She described the experience as incredibly memorable and special, valuing the memories they made as the best souvenir.

As they continue their philanthropic endeavours, the couple remains committed to making a positive impact and connecting with communities worldwide.
