No respite from scorching weather

People rush to riverbank, canals to beat the heat

HYDERABAD:

The scorching sun let lose another blast of heat on Sunday forcing people to stay indoors or take a plunge in the canals to beat the heat.

Weather remained extremely hot and dry in Hyderabad on Sunday as well, with maximum temperature at 42 degrees Celsius.

Although the temperature was three degrees less than Saturday, unrelenting gusts of hot winds continued to blow in the city throughout the day.

Due to the intense heat, traffic on the roads remained thin and people ventured out only for most necessary work.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued forecast of very hot and dry day on Monday too. According to PMD, maximum temperature was recorded at 42 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad on Sunday, while humidity in the air was 33 per cent. The maximum temperature recorded in Hyderabad was 45 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

On Sunday afternoon, the humidity in the air reached 1 per cent in the city, while hot winds continued to blow, which increased the intensity of the heat. Despite the weekly holiday on Sunday, the flow of traffic on the roads was less than normal during the afternoon hours, while the markets also showed a lack of buyers.

The rush of customers was only at the stalls of ice and cold drinks.

As Sunday was a holiday, a large number of citizens visited the canals and the riverbank picnic point of Al Manzar. The cool water of canals and the Indus River provided temporary relief to people suffering from intense hot weather.

The weatherman has no good news for now. PMD has predicted that the weather in Hyderabad will be very hot and dry and the maximum temperature will be 41 to 43 degrees Celsius. Dusty and dusty winds are expected to blow in the city in the afternoon and evening.
