DIG orders probe into cops kidnapping two boys for ransom
The West Zone police chief DIG Irfan Baloch has ordered an inquiry into the alleged short-term kidnapping and release of two young men, Jawwad Shujat and Abdul Khaliq, residents of Banaras Pathan Colony.
DIG Baloch says that he is investigating the incident and has called victims' families on Monday, action will be taken according to law against anyone found involved.
Jawwad and Khaliq were abducted by plainclothesmen, riding three motorcycles and a police mobile. The victims were kept in Gulberg police station where they were subjected to severe torture. A ransom of Rs0.5 million was demanded for releasing them but they were released after receiving Rs0.3 million.
Jawwad is a grade XI student while Khaliq runs a small grocery shop. They have suffered injuries to soles and heels from the alleged violence.
Shujaat, father of Jawwad, said that his son and his friend were abducted on May 15 from Bawani Chali area of Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (SITE) A by Mominabad policemen posing as a special team of DIG West.
Later they were handed over to Gulberg police. He said that the police officials had alleged that his son and friend were involved in buying and selling stolen mobile phones. Later, Gulberg Police took ransom and chased away both the boys.
