Emma Stone reportedly happy after being called by real name at Cannes Film Festival 2024
Stone was reportedly excited at the Cannes Film Festival 2024, May 18, when a journalist approached her by her birth name, asking about her upcoming movie 'Kinds of Kindness'.
"That's my name!," the actor said to Yorgos Lanthimos, 'Kinds of Kindness'' director.
The 'La La Land' actor disclosed in an interview with Hollywood Reporter that she changed her real name, Emily, to Emma professionally in the start because there was another actress by the name ‘Emily Stone.’
."When I get to know them, people that I work with do," responded the 'Poor Things' star when asked if anyone in her life ever refers to her by her real name.
"It’s just because my name was taken [by another actress in SAG]. Then I freaked out a couple of years ago," the actor continued.
Stone added, "For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.’ ”
“That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily,” said the actor.
'Kinds of Kindness' is Stone's fifth movie with Lanthimos and her first with the director after her Oscar-winning role in 'Poor Things' (2023).
'Kinds of Kindness' is set to release on June 21.
