Keira Knightley to star in Netflix's adaptation of "The Woman in Cabin 10"
Netflix has announced an exciting new project, "The Woman in Cabin 10," starring Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley, in one of the first major moves by the streamer’s new film chief, Dan Lin.
Based on Ruth Ware’s bestselling novel, the film will plunge viewers into the chilling depths of a maritime mystery.
Knightley will portray a travel journalist who, while on assignment to cover the maiden voyage of a luxury yacht, witnesses a horrifying incident: a passenger being thrown overboard.
Her attempts to uncover the truth are met with disbelief as all passengers are supposedly accounted for. As the yacht continues its journey through the desolate North Sea, she finds herself in peril, desperately searching for answers.
The adaptation will be directed by Simon Stone, known for his work on the 2021 Netflix film "The Dig" and the 2015 drama "The Daughter."
The screenplay for "Cabin 10" has been penned by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, with Stone also contributing to the script revisions.
The production is backed by Sister, the company co-founded by Elizabeth Murdoch and Jane Featherstone, with Cindy Holland at the helm as CEO. Debra Hayward will produce alongside executive producer Ilda Diffley.
Knightley, whose recent projects include the Netflix series "Black Doves" and films like "Boston Strangler" and "The Aftermath," brings a rich history of dramatic roles to the table, including her Oscar-nominated performances in "Pride & Prejudice" and "The Imitation Game."
