Maya Jama conversed with King Charles and updated him on “Love Island” during a jovial meeting.
The 29-year-old host of the dating show engaged with the King at Buckingham Palace during His Majesty's Garden Party, part of the celebration of Creative Industries on Wednesday afternoon.
Following introductions, Maya promptly briefed the King on the details of the ITV2 series.
Jama said to the King, "I host Love Island. I don’t know if you’ve watched it. It’s a reality dating show."
“There’s one born every minute," responded an amused King Charles.
The King also asked Maya about her future plans and she replied, "I’m just about to go to Spain to film some young people snog someone."
In their discussion, Maya recalled to King Charles that they had met previously, albeit "a long time ago."
The presenter said, "I have actually met you before a long time ago at something for the Prince's Trust. And I touched you and I wasn't supposed to. This time I won't."
At the event, Maya wore a cobalt blue and black ensemble, including a dress and matching hat, created by British-Nigerian designer Tolu Coker.
Maya Jama was among numerous notable attendees such as Tracy Emin, comedian Lenny Henry, Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly, supermodel Kate Moss and Louis Theroux.
Louis, aged 53, felt honored by the invitation, even expressing humility and jesting that there "must have been a mistake".
"It's an illustrious company. It's a beautiful day in a spectacular garden,” Louis added.
Regarding the King's knowledge of his documentaries, Theroux said, "I couldn't tell if (Charles) was a fan, but I would love to say he is."
