Pakistan, US explore gaming industry tie-up
Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, convened on Wednesday to explore avenues for bolstering cooperation in the IT and telecommunication sector.
During their discussions, they delved into various areas of mutual interest within the IT and telecommunication landscape, including Pakistan's ongoing efforts towards digitalizing its judicial system and the burgeoning potential of the gaming industry, as outlined in official statements.
Ambassador Blome reiterated the United States' keenness to broaden collaboration in the information technology sector, acknowledging Pakistan's significant potential for growth in the digital economy. He emphasized the pivotal role of US firms in driving investment and fostering innovation within the sector.

Furthermore, the minister underscored the importance of enhancing business-to-business relations between Pakistan and the US.
Pakistan seeks to tap into American expertise in technology and facilitate the exchange of IT professionals between the two nations, she noted.
Shaza Fatima also underscored the current government's focus on digitalization initiatives across various sectors of the economy, governance, and society.
She emphasized that connectivity serves as the linchpin of digitalization efforts and outlined measures being undertaken to ensure the provision of quality broadband services throughout Pakistan.
Additionally, Shaza highlighted the indispensable role of the private sector in driving economic growth, affirming the government's unwavering commitment to supporting private enterprises in alignment with the Prime Minister's vision.
The meeting saw the participation of Additional Secretary MoITT, Aisha Humera Moriani, Member IT Syed Junaid Imam, and Member Telecom Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim.
