With the third season of "Bridgerton" just around the corner, fans are already curious about what the future holds for the beloved Netflix series.

Author Julia Quinn, who penned the novels that inspired the show, recently teased upcoming storylines and confirmed that she knows which Bridgerton sibling will take centre stage in season 4.

While Quinn remained tight-lipped about the specific details, she assured fans that she's aware of the next romance to grace the screen.

"I can't say a word, I'll get in so much trouble," she told PEOPLE at the New York City premiere. However, she confirmed, "I do know, but I can't say yes."

The first two seasons of "Bridgerton '' followed the order of Quinn's novels, but the third season will jump ahead to the fourth book, "Romancing Mister Bridgerton," focusing on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton's love story.

This has led to speculation about whether season 4 will return to Benedict Bridgerton's story or move on to Eloise Bridgerton.

Quinn revealed that there are currently four seasons contracted, but showrunner Shonda Rhimes has expressed a desire for eight seasons.

Rhimes has also hinted that the order of the stories may surprise viewers, and has revealed that the team has planned through season 6 or 7.

As for the upcoming season 3, Quinn praised the ensemble cast and the "fabulous" moments between characters.

She also noted that the show has been seeding storylines for future seasons, hinting at even more exciting developments to come.

The first part of "Bridgerton" season 3 premieres on Netflix on May 16, with the second part dropping on June 13. Seasons 1 and 2, as well as the spinoff "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story," are currently streaming on Netflix.
