Major changes are on the horizon for the X-Men universe in Marvel Comics.

Marvel announced that two legendary X-Women will headline their own solo comic series, and Storm is poised to join the Avengers.

Storm, the renowned X-Men member and formidable Weather Goddess from Kenya, will officially become part of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers #17, set for release in August.

In addition, this issue, written by Jed McKay, will introduce Valerio Schiti as the new series artist. Schiti is known for his work on Jonathan Hickman’s G.O.D.S.

Marvel's official synopsis reveals that the Avengers are keen on having Storm, a beloved mutant superhero and pop culture icon, join their ranks following Krakoa's fall.

They need her Omega-level powers, expertise, and leadership skills for upcoming battles and complex plots involving Kang and the Twilight Court.

This marks the start of a significant period for Storm, who will also star in a new solo series launching later this year.

“When we were putting together thoughts for X-Men, one problem kept coming up—Storm needed to have a presence in a book befitting her status, but it would be weird for her to be on an X-Men team if she wasn’t the leader. The solution was simple—she needed to be on the global stage, among equals, and what better place for that than the Avengers?” Artist Valerio Schit said about the announcement.

Storm will join the team alongside her former husband, Black Panther. The Scarlet Witch and the Vision are also members, making it two divorced couples working together to save the world.

But that's not all for Ororo. She will also be teaming up with her friend Jean Grey to finally have her own solo series, alongside another iconic X-Woman, Dazzler.

New solo titles for X-Men characters "Dazzler" and "Storm" will debut later this year in the "From the Ashes" era.

Information about the creative team for Storm is currently undisclosed. However, the tagline reads, “Mutants no longer have a homeland. But they still have a queen.”
