Amazon Prime's Legally Blonde prequel series to spotlight Elle Woods' high school years.

Prime Video is adding a splash of pink to its lineup with the announcement of Elle, a prequel series to the iconic film Legally Blonde.

The series will be produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, with Witherspoon also serving as an executive producer.

Set to delve into the high school life of Elle Woods, the series has yet to cast its lead role.

Elle aims to explore the defining moments and adventures that shaped the effervescent blonde who would later take Harvard Law School by storm.

The project is spearheaded by Laura Kittrell, known for her work on Insecure and High School, and marks the first Legally Blonde spinoff series to receive the official go-ahead from Prime Video.

Witherspoon expressed her excitement about the project, highlighting the opportunity for fans to witness the formative years of Elle Woods.

"Fans will get to know how Elle navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity," Witherspoon stated, adding that the series promises to bring back the charm of Legally Blonde in a new light.

Vernon Sanders of Amazon MGM Studios praised the enduring appeal of Elle Woods, describing her as one of Hollywood's most beloved characters.

Sanders expressed confidence that the prequel would resonate with global audiences, thanks to the combined creative forces of Reese Witherspoon, Hello Sunshine, and Laura Kittrell.

Legally Blonde originally captured hearts in 2001 with its tale of a sorority girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to law school, only to find her true potential.

Its success spawned a sequel in 2003 and a less prominent follow-up in 2009.

Additionally, Legally Blonde 3 is reportedly still in the pipeline with Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor crafting the screenplay.
