Amazon Prime Video has officially renewed its critically acclaimed spy series, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," for a second season.

However, fans are left wondering whether the show's stars, Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, will reprise their roles.

The renewal was announced during Amazon's first-ever upfront presentation to advertisers in New York.

While Glover will continue to serve as a co-creator and executive producer alongside Francesca Sloane, who will return as showrunner, sources suggest that Glover and Erskine may not return to star in the new season.

Glover recently announced a world tour as Childish Gambino, adding to speculation about his availability.

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, expressed excitement about the renewal, praising the show's modern and sexy reinvention of the original film.

She promised another season filled with unforgettable journeys and new adventures.

The first season of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" ended with a dramatic cliffhanger, leaving the fate of the characters uncertain.

The show's anthology format could allow for a new couple to take on the roles of John and Jane Smith in the upcoming season.

The series, a reimagining of the 2005 film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, follows two lonely strangers who become spies and are thrust into an arranged marriage.

The show received critical acclaim, with a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
