KARACHI: The decision to introduce Mandarin as a compulsory course in government schools will bring positive and far-reaching results, according to the senior minister for education, Pir Mazharul Haq. The decision was taken because of the unprecedented economic and technological development made by China in recent years. Haq was talking to educationists in his office on Monday. He said that the Pakistani youth was doing well in European countries but not in China. The minister said that this decision would hopefully bridge the technological gap between the two countries and Mandarin would be brought to the college and university level also. He assured that the decision to seek trainers from China would soon be finalised so that local teachers could be trained.
