Kristen Welker, moderator of NBC's ‘Meet the Press,’ revealed on the ‘Today’ show that she and her husband, John Hughes, are expecting their second child via surrogacy.
Welker, 47, shared her struggles with infertility and a uterus unsuitable for pregnancy.
After undergoing in vitro fertilization for two years, the couple welcomed their daughter Margot through surrogacy in June 2021.
Expressing her joy, Welker stated, "We hope that our news offers hope to others who are trying to build their own families."
Their son, expected to arrive in a few weeks, will be delivered by a different surrogate than the one who carried Margot. Welker praised the new surrogate, Angelica, calling her an "angel on Earth."
Welker, an only child herself, always desired a larger family. She humorously mentioned needing advice on raising a son, while co-host Savannah Guthrie joked about the baby's arrival coinciding with the upcoming election season.
This news comes after Welker's deeply personal letter in 2021, where she shared the challenges of infertility and the upcoming arrival of their daughter.
