The victim's son Abdullah Afsar, a resident of Defence Phase 8, told the police that his father Muhammad Afsar Mehmood was a former official of a government institution and lived at home while his mother taught at a college.
“On the day of the incident, my mother got home from college and knocked on the door. She called me when my father didn’t answer the door. She asked me to come home immediately. I had the house key and when I opened the door my father’s body was lying in the pool of blood and a lot of stuff including Rs70,000 cash, a laptop and my father’s phone were missing from the house. My father was shot in his head a few times,” Abdullah told the police.
