Jensen Ackles pays homage to Supernatural's Dean Winchester

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted a clever Easter egg hidden in an episode of Tracker on CBS.

Jensen Ackles, famous for his portrayal of Dean Winchester in the long-running series Supernatural, has delighted fans with a subtle Easter egg during his debut on the CBS series Tracker.

In the episode aired on Sunday, May 12, Ackles' character, Russell, is reunited with his estranged brother, Colter, played by Justin Hartley. 

Before getting into Colter's truck, Russell affectionately pats a Chevrolet Impala parked nearby. 

This gesture was a clear nod to Supernatural, where Ackles' character Dean Winchester drove the same car model, affectionately nicknamed "Baby."

The Impala held significant sentimental value for Dean Winchester, passed down from his father. It played a crucial role throughout the series, aiding the Winchester brothers in their monster-hunting adventures. Ackles' fondness for the car led him to take it home after Supernatural concluded.

Ackles' appearance on Tracker marks his return to television following Supernatural's end in 2020. He has since taken on guest roles in various projects, including Big Sky and The Boys, and even directed an episode of Walker, starring his former Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki.

On Tracker, Ackles plays a pivotal role as Russell, Colter's brother, with whom he has a strained relationship. Despite their differences, the brothers collaborate to investigate the disappearance of Russell's former army buddy, delving into conspiracy theories and shady operations.

Fans can look forward to seeing more of Ackles on Tracker, as Justin Hartley has confirmed his return for season 2. Hartley praised Ackles' casting, recognizing his talent and ability to hold his own against Colter's character.
