Jennifer Lawrence lashes out at Mike Pence over conversion therapy views
Actress Jennifer Lawrence has called out Mike Pence for his opposing beliefs about conversion therapy and the LGBTQ+ community.
At the 35th annual GLAAD Awards in New York City on Saturday, Jennifer Lawrence roasted Mike Pence, the former US vice president.
The Hunger Games actor made rude comments on the President's alleged beliefs on conversion therapy.
The 33-year-old actor started her monologue with a joke: “I love seeing so many humans who can top their field while still being power bottoms.”
Showing her support for the LGBTQ+ community, Lawrence said: “In fact, I was in love with a homosexual, it was my first love. I tried to convert him for years but now I know conversion therapy doesn’t work.”
She added, “Did you hear me, Mike Pence? I said conversion therapy isn’t real even though I know you think it worked on you.”
Pence has been accused of opposing LGBTQ+ rights. The former President was slammed by LGBTQ activists for supporting conversion therapy and opposing gay marriage.
