Emma Stone thinks Taylor Swift’s ex Joe Alwyn is ‘one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet’
Emma Stone has found solace in her co-star Joe Alwyn while filming the upcoming Yorgos Lanthimos film “Kinds of Kindness.”
According to a recent press release reported on by the People, the “Poor Things” actor described Alwyn as “one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet.”
Stone, who previously worked with Alwyn on Lanthimos’ “The Favourite,” highlighted the importance of their camaraderie considering the film's challenging themes, “We had to do some pretty dark stuff on this one, so it was extremely comforting to be with him.”
The “Conversations with Friends” actor is known for his six-year relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift, who is also a close friend of Stone’s.
The two actors are joined by a star-studded cast in “Kinds of Kindness,” including Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley, who have previously worked with Stone on Lanthimos’ 2023 film, “Poor Things.”
Actors Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Mamoudou Athie and Hunter Schafer round out the main cast.
“Kinds of Kindness” is described as a trilogy following characters grappling with existential themes. A recently released trailer offers a glimpse into the film, featuring Stone cruising in a purple car to the tune of Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).”
The film marks a departure from Lanthimos’ usual style according to the director himself. Speaking to People in December 2023, Lanthimos described “Kinds of Kindness” as a “contemporary film” with a unique narrative structure.
“It's three different stories and there's a core of seven actors, including Emma of course, who play one character in each story,” he explained.
Stone is coming off a successful awards season, having won Best Actress for her role in “Poor Things” at the 2024 Academy Awards. The film, which also starred Dafoe and Qualley, secured wins in three additional categories: Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
“Kinds of Kindness” hits theaters June 21st.
