Olivia Rodrigo and co-writer Daniel Nigro have been named 2024’s ASCAP Pop Music Songwriters of the Year, marking their second time receiving the prestigious award.

Rodrigo (21) and  Nigro (41) were honoured for their songwriting talents demonstrated in songs like  "Vampire" and "Bad Idea, Right?". The ceremony took place on May 8th at the iconic Houdini Estate in Los Angeles.

ASCAP praised the duo, calling them "a true pop dream team". Their 2023 album, "GUTS",  was a critical and commercial hit, boasting chart-topping singles and inspiring a sold-out world tour.

Nigro took to Instagram to express his gratitude, thanking ASCAP, Chappell Roan for presenting the award, and of course, Olivia Rodrigo.

Rodrigo's back-to-back Songwriter of the Year wins are a testament to her undeniable star power. Fans may remember she was also Time magazine's 2021 Entertainer of the Year.

The journey hasn't been without its challenges. In a 2021 Time interview, they discussed facing criticism and having to revise songs after listeners picked up on similarities to other artists' work. However, Rodrigo and Nigro continue to rise above the noise, using their experiences to fuel their creative fire.
