Bushra Iqbal urges justice for Aamir Liaquat as YouTuber faces arrest warrants in video leak case
Arrest warrants have been reportedly issued for the famous Pakistani YouTuber Yasir Shami in the late Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s video leak case. The news surfaced after the politician-TV host’s former wife, Dr Bushra Iqbal, took to social media.
Bushra, who has been at the centre of a legal dispute involving Yasir and Aamir’s third wife, Dania Shah, shared photocopies of the non-bailable arrest warrants on her Instagram handle, shedding light on the ongoing legal saga.
Underlining the specifics of the arrest warrant, Bushra penned a long caption, stating, “The Court of Judicial Magistrate Karachi has issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against the accused and absconder YouTuber Yasir Shami in Aamir Liaquat (late) cybercrime obscene video leak case.”
As per the deceased TV personality’s wife, Dania, and Yasir are the two accused involved in the case. “Waiting for FIA to arrest Yasir Shami and present him before the court to execute the court orders. InshaAllah, Aamir Liaquat will get justice soon,” Bushra expressed her hopes.
On Thursday, Yasir surrendered himself before the Karachi City Courts. Despite facing serious allegations regarding the dissemination of viral videos featuring the late Dr Aamir, the YouTuber was granted bail upon furnishing a Rs2.5 million surety bond. However, the court ordered him to present himself before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide his statement regarding the case.
This development comes after multiple summons were issued due to Yasir’s repeated absence from proceedings. Legal representatives emphasised the importance of his participation in advancing the case, with warnings of potential arrest warrants for continued non-appearance.
The legal battle surrounding the viral videos has involved several individuals, including Aamir’s third wife Dania, who is currently out on bail. Liaqat Gabol, representing Dania, highlighted Yasir’s crucial role in the case's progression and attributed delays to his actions.
