Actor Glen Powell is reportedly in early talks to star in J.J. Abrams' next feature film
This potential collaboration comes after Abrams and Powell worked together on the upcoming documentary "The Blue Angels."
No deals have been finalized and plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say Abrams will direct the film from a script he wrote and. Bad Robot is set to produce the project.
This news follows a busy period for Powell. He recently starred in "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Anyone But You," and is next set to appear in "Hit Man" (Netflix) and various other coveted projects.
According to Variety, Powell's rising star power could potentially lead to an increase in his asking price.
Sony's Motion Picture Group chairman and CEO Tom Rothman attributed the success of "Anyone But You" to both the power of the theatrical experience and Powell's "truly charismatic screen presence."
J.J. Abrams has also shown support for Powell in the past, hosting a special screening of Powell's first executive produced feature, "Devotion" (2022).
Abrams and Bad Robot are currently producing "Flowervale Street," a mystery-thriller starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, scheduled for a May 2025 release.
