Ethan Hawke's teenage daughters were less than thrilled with their dad's surprise appearance in Taylor Swift's latest music video, “Fortnight,” according to the actor himself.

Hawke revealed on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that his daughters gave him a “look of profound disappointment” when they found out about his cameo.

He mimicked his daughters, saying they thought, “Don't pay attention to my dad, my dad's an idiot. You should be calling me.”

Hawke starred alongside Josh Charles in the video for Swift's song “Fortnight” from her album “The Tortured Poets Department,” offering a direct nod to the classic film, “Dead Poets Society,” which both actors were also in the original cast for.

While his daughters weren't impressed, Hawke himself admitted to having a blast filming the video with Charles.

“For Josh and I, we laughed ourselves silly the whole day,” he said. “We felt like the biggest rock stars in the whole world.” He also acknowledged that he understood his daughters' perspective as young Swifties, saying, “Taylor belongs to them.”

“Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, has been dominating the charts, remaining at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a second week in a row.
