Seven tax officials suspended for poor recoveries

The officials had failed to achieve tax targets in the posh housing societies of Rawalpindi city

Seven Inspectors of the Property Tax Rawalpindi Branch of the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department have been suspended from service for poor performance and low rate in property tax recoveries for the current fiscal year.

The officials had failed to achieve tax targets in the posh housing societies of Rawalpindi city and its suburbs. They have been transferred and ordered to report to the ETNCD Lahore headquarters.

The Director Headquarters E&T issued a notification on behalf of the ENCTD director-general.

The Inspectors who were suspended from service are Iftikhar Bhatti of Zone One UC 87, Aqeel Akhtar of Phase 8 Zone Five, Iftikhar Bhatti of Zone One UC 87, Rana Zahid Sultan of Satellite Town 2 Zone Three, Syed Yahya Ejaz of Phase 8 One Zone Five, Mumtaz Ali of Iqbal Road Zone Three, Imtiaz Azim of UC 84 Zone One and Inspector of Highways Property and Professional Tax Murree Sultan Sikandar.

All the suspended officers have been ordered to ensure their biometric attendance daily at the DG E&T Punjab office.

When this correspondent tried to contact Director E&T Rawalpindi Imran Aslam for his version and future strategy, he neither received calls nor replied to text messages.
