Policeman liquidates suspect in hand-to-hand combat

KARACHI:

A furious mob killed a suspected robber after subjecting him and his accomplice to severe torture near Shah Faisal Chowk, Orangi Town.

Reportedly, the two alleged robbers were fleeing after looting a furniture shop when the shopkeeper opened fire at them. Consequently, both robbers were seriously injured and the passersby in the vicinity surrounded and tortured them.

After being informed about the incident, police reached the spot and rescued one of the robbers, Sulaiman, while the other one, Rehman, was dead already.

The deceased and the injured robbers were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Pakistan Bazar police station SHO, Imam Bakhsh Lashari, told The Express Tribune that suspects had a criminal history. The condition of the injured robber is said to be critical. The police will interrogate the injured robber after his recovery, said the SHO.

Meanwhile, a policeman in a fierce hand-to-hand combat liquidated a fleeing suspect with his own gun.

Sub-Inspector Bakht Ali Abro, posted in Nazimabad Investigation, was on his way when he got the alert about a suspect, Ubaid Arbab, fleeing after robbery.

Abro saw the suspect robbing a citizen Muhammad Salim near Saima Bridge View Apartments. He ordered the suspect to surrender, however, Ubaid pulled out a pistol. Abro grabbed the gun and using anti-terrorism training technique turned the barrel towards the assailant. The gun went off and a bullet when through Ubaid's chest killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile, the Pak Colony police station SHO Khalid Mahmood said that the alleged bandit, Saifullah Wali Rehmat, who was caught and beaten by citizens in Purana Golimar on Saturday, died during treatment at Dr KM Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital on Monday.
