ISLAMABAD:

The third edition of a book covering themes of Pakistani history, politics and nation-building was launched and discussed at a session participated by policy enthusiasts, historians and members of civil society.

The book titled “Europe Ki Diary” (Diary of Europe) is the work of renowned columnist and lawyer, Barrister Naseem Bajwa. It is based on his columns published in various newspapers and his life experiences in law and journalism.

Participants said the barrister has made essential contributions to Urdu journalism through his services at the BBC London Urdu Chapter and has worked as an educationist at Atchison College as well.

The book discussion was hosted by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). In his opening remarks, the SDPI Executive Director, Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri, mentioned that among other things, Bajwa’s book focused on change in the country’s system and provided a way forward to achieve that goal.

He also highlighted the inclusion of tributes paid to Parveen Rehman and Asma Jehangir in the book. He termed the book as a guiding document for generation building and recommended the youth to read it.

At the discussion, the author shared his personal accounts and lessons learnt throughout his lifetime from the experience of the Pakistan Movement to shifting to a foreign country, all of which motivated him to write articles for the betterment of the country, which then resulted in this book.

"I learnt at BBC to write as if the audience is sitting right in front of me, which was what makes writing vivid, yet subtle," he shared speaking about his writing process.
