First look at Superman 2025: David Corenswet to play Man of Steel

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

The latest Superman suit has made its official debut.

James Gunn's upcoming film, formerly known as "Superman: Legacy," has now been titled simply "Superman." As filming progresses, Gunn, the writer-director, shared a first look at David Corenswet in costume as the iconic Man of Steel on his Threads account.

Gunn mentioned that the first look photo was captured on set by Jess Miglio and was completely in-camera.

This marks a significant moment for Corenswet, who is making his debut as the lead in a major Hollywood tentpole film.

The 30-year-old actor is recognized for his supporting roles in two popular Netflix series created by Ryan Murphy: "The Politician" and "Hollywood."

Rachel Brosnahan, the Emmy-winning star of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," joins Corenswet as Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Superman’s notorious adversary, Lex Luthor.

Gunn's ensemble cast also includes Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and more.

Originally titled "Superman: Legacy," Gunn announced in February that the title had been shortened to "Superman."
