Residents of Khalid Colony in are living in constant fear due to the perilous state of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) installations in their densely populated neighbourhood, which pose a grave risk to both lives and property.

Residents are urging authorities to address the pressing issue before it causes a catastrophic incident.

Several residents, including Shah Zaib Khaskheli, Saddam Khaskheli, Jehanzeb Khaskheli, Shaukat Khaskheli, and others, expressed their slammed the dangerous HESCO infrastructure imperilling their community. They lamented the placement of electricity transformers perilously close to residential buildings, with electric meters dangling from poles.

Moreover, the presence of dangerously exposed high-voltage lines, including an 11,000-volt mainline, further exacerbates the risk.

The situation is compounded during summers, as frequent fires erupt from these installations, inflicting financial losses on nearby residents.

Besides that, the deteriorating condition of HESCO's electrical infrastructure over time has deepened concerns. Residents now deal with the daily occurrence of electricity wires breaking and falling onto homes and streets, increasing the likelihood of major accidents.

The residents' outcry underline the urgent need for immediate intervention by authorities to rectify the perilous conditions plaguing Khalid Colony. Failure to address these concerns could result in dire consequences for the safety and well-being of the community.

Residents call upon the relevant authorities to prioritise the safety of citizens by addressing the state of HESCO installations in their neighbourhood.
