VEHARI:

A man, in connivance with his parents, allegedly strangled his wife to death over a domestic dispute on Saturday.

The police have registered a case and arrested all three accused.

Police said Rukhsana Saeed, a resident of Jhangirabad Multan, had married Saeed Ahmad's nephew Khurram Shahzad six years ago in 2019. They had two children, Hashir Shahzad, aged 4, and Hareem Fatima, aged 1.

Apparently, the deceased Rukhsana Saeed's mother-in-law and also her aunt, Yasmeen was not pleased with her role and frequently quarrelled with her husband, Mushtaq.

Police said Rukhsana used to discourage her aunt from such behaviour, which angered Yasmeen, who is also a school teacher and she incited her son Khurram Shahzad against his wife Rukhsana.

A few days ago, due to this tension, Khurram Shahzad and Rukhsana Saeed had a quarrel between them. Khurram Shahzad, along with his parents, strangled Rukhsana Saeed and informed her parents that she had fallen down the stairs and died.

Rukhsana's parents took their daughter's body to Multan from Jhangirabad for burial, and during the bath, it was found that there were marks of violence on her neck and body.

The Seetal Mari police reached the scene and were informed that the incident took place in the jurisdiction of Vehari Police Station.

On the complaint of Rukhsana's brother Waqar, a case has been registered an FIR and Khurram Shahzad, his father Mushtaq, and mother Yasmeen have been arrested.

DPO Esa Khan said that further action would be taken according to the law after the result of the post-mortem report comes out.
