‘Gone Girl’ actress Rosamund Pike joins 'Now You See Me 3' cast

Details of her role remain a secret, adding to the intrigue of the upcoming heist film.

Rosamund Pike, acclaimed for her roles in "Gone Girl" and as the sorceress Moiraine Damodred in "The Wheel of Time," is bringing her screen presence to the magic heist franchise.

Pike joins fellow newcomers Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt, alongside returning franchise stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman.  The nature of Pike's role remains shrouded in mystery.

The "Now You See Me" franchise kicked off in 2013 with Louis Leterrier at the helm.  The film, centred around the Four Horsemen and their elaborate heists, was a global box office success. Jon M. Chu directed the 2016 sequel, which continued to draw in audiences.

Ruben Fleischer ("Venom", "Uncharted") takes on directing duties for the third instalment, working from a script by Eric Warren Singer, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Mike Lesslie.

Pike's upcoming projects include the psychological thriller "Hallow Road."  She'll also reprise her role as Moiraine Damodred when the third season of "The Wheel of Time" premieres next year.
