Jake Gyllenhaal and Maya Rudolph to host final episodes of SNL’s season 49
Saturday Night Live has unveiled the celebrity powerhouses taking center stage for the final two episodes of its 49th season.
The season finale, set for May 18, will be hosted by Jake Gyllenhaal, with Sabrina Carpenter making her debut as the musical guest.
Meanwhile, the second-to-last episode on May 11 will see "SNL" veteran Maya Rudolph return as host, accompanied by musical guest Vampire Weekend.
This will be Rudolph's third hosting stint since her tenure as a cast member from 2000 to 2007.
The star of "Loot" is celebrated for her memorable impressions of Oprah, Beyoncé, and Vice President Kamala Harris, and for her beloved characters like Jodi Dietz from "Bronx Beat."
Rudolph's portrayal of then-Senator Harris earned her an Emmy in 2020 for outstanding guest actress.
Her most recent appearance was in a 2023 episode, where she partook in a skit mimicking ABBA.
Gyllenhaal is also set to host for the third time, having previously taken up the role in 2007 and 2022.
The upcoming episode will introduce singer Sabrina Carpenter on the "SNL" stage and welcome back rock band Vampire Weekend for their fourth performance.
This week's episode will also feature Dua Lipa, who is pulling double duty as both host and musical guest.
