Budget proposals invited from public entities
The government has asked all the development-oriented public service institutions across the Rawalpindi district to submit their proposals, share details of the development schemes, and fund expenditures for the provincial budget of the new financial year 2024-25.
The Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, District Council, Tehsil Councils, Rawalpindi Development Authority, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Parks and Horticulture Authority, Department of Forests, and Livestock have been tasked by the annual development committee to provide details, including estimated costs of anticipated development schemes and new mega projects for the upcoming financial year by May 15.
According to the government’s directives on this matter, heads of all institutions have been advised to prioritise self-funding wherever feasible, given the prevailing economic challenges, rather than relying extensively on government funds in the new budget. Development schemes are expected to be formulated and submitted based on the city's needs and priorities.
Furthermore, all institutions have started the process of drafting development scheme proposals aimed at addressing public issues and enhancing the development of the Rawalpindi district. Sources indicate a decision has been made to defer the initiation of any mega projects and refrain from allocating funds for the first six months of the new financial year until December 31, 2024.
