Chris Hemsworth admits getting caught up in “the wackiness” led to 'Thor: Love and Thunder' failure

Hemsworth admits that "Thor: Love and Thunder" didn't hit the mark, leaving him feeling like "a parody of myself."

Chris Hemsworth has opened up once again about his time as Thor and his desire for more diverse roles.

In a candid Vanity Fair interview, the star admits "Thor: Love and Thunder" didn't quite hit the mark, with its overly silly tone leaving him feeling like "a parody of myself."

The Australian actor had previously admitted to GQ magazine in an interview that the fourth instalment of the stand-alone Thor movies was “too silly” for its own good.

Hemsworth's success as an action hero continues with projects like "Extraction," but he's eager to branch out. He hopes to collaborate with acclaimed directors like Christopher Nolan, Kathryn Bigelow, Greta Gerwig, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.  Darren Aronofsky is already developing potential projects with Hemsworth in mind – a dark comedy and a sci-fi venture.

The actor found renewed passion playing the villain in George Miller's "Furiosa." He likens the experience to his transformative role in Ron Howard's "Rush," which moved him beyond his action star persona.

After a period of career burnout, Hemsworth feels "Furiosa" has rekindled his excitement for acting. While a potential "Thor 5" remains on the table, Hemsworth wants it to be unpredictable and satisfy fans. He's committed to keeping the character fresh and avoiding audience fatigue.

"Furiosa" premieres at Cannes before its May 24 theatrical release. Read Hemsworth's full story on Vanity Fair's website.
