Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson officially sanctioned as professional boxing match

The much-hyped showdown between Youtuber-turned boxer Jake Paul and legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson takes place on July 20.

The highly anticipated exhibition match between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and legendary former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has taken a significant turn.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations has officially sanctioned the July 20th bout as a professional fight as reported by ESPN.

This means the fight will take place over eight two-minute rounds, with both fighters wearing 14-ounce gloves.

The outcome will directly impact their professional boxing records.  This news resolves speculation surrounding the rules of the fight, considering the 31-year age difference between the competitors.

Tyson, 57, hasn't recorded a professional win since 2003 and last fought professionally in 2005. His last appearance in the ring was a 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.  Paul, 27,  has been on a surprising winning streak, racking up victories against former UFC stars and gaining notoriety within the boxing world.

The fight will be streamed live on Netflix, marking the platform's entry into live combat sports. Aiming for record-breaking streaming numbers, the card also features the highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
