For Anne Hathaway “forty feels like a gift” as she celebrates five years of sobriety
Actor Anne Hathaway is celebrating being “over five years sober.”
In a recent interview with The New York Times, she admitted, “I don't normally talk about it, but I am over five years sober. That feels like a milestone to me.”
The “Love & Other Drugs” actor first hinted at her decision to give up alcohol during a 2019 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
At the time, she explained that a bad hangover after dropping her son off at school was a turning point, making her realize she wanted to be fully present for him.
Hathaway, who is now 41, also revealed how she feels about getting older, “Forty feels like a gift. The fact of the matter is I hesitate at calling things “middle age” simply because I can be a semantic stickler and I could get hit by a car later today.
“We don’t know if this is middle age. We don’t know anything.”
The “Princess Diaries” actor also surprisingly teased a possible third installment for her beloved franchise.
When asked about “Princess Diaries 3,” Hathaway simply replied, “Yep.” This is a shift from previous comments where Hathaway had suggested a third movie was unlikely. Fans will be eager to see if this cryptic response translates into a return to the fictional kingdom of Genovia.
Hathaway’s latest film – “The Idea of You” – directed by Michael Showalter, is an adaptation of Robinne Lee's romance novel. It stars Hathaway as Solène, a divorced mom who finds herself falling for a much younger celebrity played by Nicholas Galitzine.
“The Idea of You” hits streaming service Prime Video on May 2nd.
