Two students sustained injuries during a clash between student groups at GC University on Thursday.
The university took action by expelling 10 students involved in the fight. A university spokesperson confirmed that an inquiry into the matter has been initiated and it has been forwarded to the disciplinary committee for further review.
The confrontation between the student groups took place in the university canteen, where both sides resorted to violence, utilising chairs and bricks, resulting in injuries.
Surprisingly, the university administration and security personnel remained passive spectators during the altercation.
After a video of the incident circulated widely on social media platforms, both the police and university authorities intervened.
The clash occurred within the premises of GC University Faisalabad, falling under the jurisdiction of the Gulberg police station area.
Both groups engaged in physical violence, hurling objects at each other, leading to minor injuries. Despite the escalation of the situation, there was no intervention from the university's security and administration at the time.
Subsequently, the Gulberg police took action upon learning of the incident through the viral video.
In a separate incident, a robber was apprehended and injured during a police encounter in the Sandal Bar area.
Police recovered weapons, a stolen purse, and a mobile phone from the suspect, who was then transported to a hospital for treatment.
A case was registered against the apprehended robber, and efforts are underway to apprehend his accomplices who managed to escape.
As per reports, three robbers robbed a citizen of cash and a mobile phone in the Sandalbar police station area before attempting to flee. However, upon receiving a report, the patrolling elite force vehicle from Rescue 15 pursued the suspects.
When confronted by the police, two of the robbers opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. As a result, one of the suspects, identified as Asif, sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad and Allied Hospital for medical treatment.
The police seized a pistol, mobile phone, and stolen purse from the scene and launched a search operation to apprehend the remaining absconding suspects.
