Courteney Cox has made candid revelations about her experience raising her daughter, Coco Arquette.
In a recent interview on Minnie Driver's podcast, Minnie Questions, the 59-year-old “Friends” actor spoke about learning to trust her instincts.
“There were times I didn't step in even though I knew something wasn't quite right,” Cox admitted, “I should've trusted myself more.”
While Cox, who shares her 19-year-old daughter with ex-husband David Arquette, emphasized her pride in Coco’s nurturing personality, she also acknowledged the importance of establishing boundaries.
“I'm not saying I shaped who she is, but you learn with age,” Cox says. “I've gotten better at saying no and setting boundaries, something I wasn't always great at.”
This wasn't the first time Cox had spoken about her approach to parenting. In 2021, she appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she discussed Coco's love for self-expression through fashion and makeup.
“Coco's always expressed herself creatively,” Cox shared, referencing her daughter's ever-changing hair color. “We've dyed our bathroom a thousand times!” she laughed.
Despite the occasional mess, Cox remained a firm believer in fostering self-expression in children. “We have to let them be themselves, with boundaries of course,” she says.
Cox enjoys activities with her daughter, such as singing, evident in this video posted in 2021, featuring Cox and Coco performing a duet of Taylor Swift's “Cardigan.”
