Fight over burger led to murder
An investigation into the murder of a former judge’s son has concluded that the victim was fatally shot by his friend during a spur-of-the-moment altercation at his residence in a posh neighbourhood of the metropolitan city more than two months ago.
The fight had occurred because the victim had devoured the burger the suspect had ordered for his girlfriend, police said.
According to a comprehensive report submitted to senior police officials by the investigating officer (IO), Daniyal Mir Bahar, the son of a retired police officer, fatally shot his friend Ali Keerio at his residence in DHA, Phase IV, on February 8.
Daniyal was immediately arrested, and police registered a case of murder against him. Detailing the sequence of events, the IO report states that Daniyal invited his friend Shazia to his residence on February 8, where Keerio, along with Qasim Ali and Ahmed Nazeer, were also present.
Keerio, in a moment of impulsivity, appropriated a parcel of burger intended for Shazia, inciting Daniyal's anger. Ahmed tried to cool things down, but to no avail.
Daniyal became furious and in the fit of anger took out his gun and fatally shot Keerio. In a desperate bid to save him, Daniyal and Ahmed rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The IO report clearly lays the blame on Daniyal, who currently awaits trial in jail.
