Alec Baldwin assaults Palestine supporter after being asked about "Rust" shooting
Footage of Alec Baldwin punching a woman’s phone out of her hand has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Baldwin is seen at a New York City coffee shop when a woman known as Crackhead Barney (a performance artist) hassles him for a response.
The woman initially presses Baldwin to denounce Israel and say "Free Palestine."
The actor maintains his composure while asking her to leave and instructing staff to call the police.
Barney went on to ask Baldwin about the fatal shooting on the set of the Western movie Rust in 2021, prompting the SNL star to punch down the camera from the protester’s hands.
Crackhead Barney later released a statement defending her actions, calling it "confrontational media" and a protest against societal double standards in the US.
She positions the incident as a critique of the entertainment industry's silence on Israel’s actions against Palestinians.
Israel has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians including 14,000+ children and wounded 76,000 others in its onslaught on besieged Gaza since October 7.
Baldwin is set to face trial in July on involuntary manslaughter charges related to the "Rust" set shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. He has pleaded not guilty.
