Christina Applegate shares details of struggles with MS, Covid and Sapovirus
Christina Applegate hasn't been able to catch a break lately. The Dead to Me actress is bravely battling a series of health issues on top of her previously diagnosed multiple sclerosis (MS). In a recent episode of her podcast, MeSsy, co-hosted with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate revealed a string of recent illnesses in graphic detail.
After contracting the novel coronavirus, Applegate endured long COVID effects including a racing heart rate and chest infection.
But worse was to follow. She then came down with sapovirus, a stomach bug so severe she described it as "pissing out of [her] ass for a few days." Applegate believes she may have contracted sapovirus from a longtime favourite restaurant.
The debilitating symptoms made normal life difficult, including a heartbreaking inability to visit her brother's new baby.
Applegate shared another nightmarish experience stemming from her illnesses which led to a frank conversation about adult diapers with Sigler, who also suffers from MS.
The pair criticised the design of adult diapers, calling for features like velcro sides and less "cheerful" designs.
