‘13 Going on 30' star Christa B. Allen reimagines iconic Versace dress for its 20th Anniversary
Christa B. Allen (32), who captivated audiences as the younger version of Jennifer Garner's Jenna Rink in "13 Going on 30," is ensuring the film's 20th anniversary leaves a lasting impression. The actress debuted a reimagined version of the iconic Versace dress her character wore, infusing it with chainmail and rhinestones for a modern take.
In an Instagram video set to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)," Allen models her 2024 version of the dress, complete with a voluminous ponytail and rhinestone butterfly necklace – a perfect homage to the original.
Allen's commitment to detail shines through, even revealing that her vision for the gown involves completely covering it in rhinestones. She expressed gratitude for her co-designer, Laura at The Fitting Agency, for their collaboration.
Fans might be thrilled to hear of the dress's return, as the film's costume designer, Susie DeSanto, revealed the original Versace piece was lost. DeSanto explained that costumes are often stored in warehouses for reuse, leaving the dress's fate a mystery.
Allen shared her love for the film with PEOPLE, calling it "both a rom-com classic and a cinematic love letter to the power of manifestation." She also fondly remembers the unforgettable "Thriller" flash mob dance scene.
