Swifties flock to London pub sharing name with Taylor Swift's new song "The Black Dog"

“The Black Dog” is the 17th track on record-shattering “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.”

A pub in south London is experiencing a surge in popularity thanks to a namecheck in Taylor Swift's record-breaking new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

The Black Dog in Vauxhall has been inundated with fans recognising it as the subject of the song with the same name on Swift’s latest album.

“We're just loving it, it's been so fun,” event manager Lily Bottomley told the BBC. “All of the attention has been pretty overwhelming but we can't be happier.”

She described the response from Taylor Swift's devoted fanbase, the "Swifties," as "amazing" and "overwhelmingly positive."

“The Black Dog” is the 17th track on the album, which shattered Spotify's single-day streaming record.

It features the lyrics, "And so I watch as you walk - into some bar called The Black Dog - and pierce new holes in my heart." The line details a heartbroken narrator who discovers their ex-partner's location through a forgotten location-sharing app.

Bottomley also revealed that Swift herself had previously visited the pub, “It's really small and really cosy so I can imagine the neighbourhood feel, the community, would appeal to her. Obviously, being as famous as she is [it's] maybe a nice break.”

The Black Dog is now capitalising on its newfound fame by offering Swift-themed burgers and cocktails.

The manager added, “We've had [the album] on non-stop [at] the pub. We've had singalongs from fans. It's been amazing.”
