“Pulp Fiction” producer Stacey Sher says Bruce Willis was "so kind" to her late father
Producer Stacey Sher raved about renowned actor Bruce Willis at the 30th-anniversary event for “Pulp Fiction.”
Sher, known for her work on films like "Django Unchained" and "Erin Brockovich," revealed a special connection to Willis through her late father, Sy Sher. She spoke to People Magazine at the TCL Chinese Theatre event in Los Angeles on April 18th.
"My late father, Sy Sher, who was not an actor, who had never acted or really been on a set except to visit me, was Bruce Willis' boxing coach [for “Pulp Fiction”]," Sher explained.
Sy Sher's lack of experience wasn't a barrier for Willis. "Bruce was so kind to him, as this man who had never done this before, but revered cinema. " Sher continued, her voice filled with emotion. “[He] was why I loved movies."
Referencing Willis’ recent frontotemporal dementia diagnosis, Sher expressed her ongoing support for the actor. "We all wish him the best," she shared, acknowledging his ex-wife Demi Moore and their daughters.
The night was also a reunion for the film's iconic cast. John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, and Uma Thurman were all present, celebrating the enduring legacy of "Pulp Fiction."
Bruce Willis’ current wife, Emma Hemming Willis, was also present at the event, alongside one of their daughters, Tallulah Willis.
Sher also shared her unwavering faith in director Quentin Tarantino's creative vision and his ability to take “risks,” “I've always believed in his artistic exploration and backed him as the filmmaker and auteur that he is.”
She concluded by highlighting Tarantino as a “lover of cinema,” adding, "The world of film is richer because Quentin Tarantino has been a part of it."
Sher, currently shares two children with her husband, musician Kerry Brown, whom she married in 2001.
