Brooklyn-based Pakistani singer Arooj Aftab has announced the release of her first-ever music video for the song Raat Ki Rani. To the delight of fans, the video is directed by none other than American actor Tessa Thompson, known for her role as Valkyrie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films, who is making her directorial debut with this project.

The announcement came through Aftab’s Instagram, where she shared a candid black and white photo with Thompson. The post excitedly reveals the details of their partnership: “Raat Ki Rani is my first ever music video and your first glimpse at a reality where Tessa Thompson is your favorite film director on earth.”

“Her work and her person are wildly inspiring and solid. Incredibly cosmic stuff here guys. It’s really special to both of us. I am insanely grateful. And it’s out tomorrow," Aftab added.

Responding to Aftab's heartfelt announcement, the Creed starlet shared the post to her own Instagram Story, overlaying it with a touching note, “This caption got me. Love you, my debut sis, Arooj Aftab. Thank you for trusting me.” The music video is set to premiere on April 18, 6:00 PM as per Pakistan Standard Time.

Raat Ki Rani marks a significant milestone for Aftab, who rose to international fame with her Grammy-winning track Mohabbat. With this video, she continues to explore new artistic avenues, further cementing her place in the global music scene. For Thompson, this project serves as a bold step into the sphere of film directing, showcasing her versatile talents beyond acting.

The Love in Exile crooner is set to dazzle audiences at the iconic Glastonbury Festival in London this June. Aftab, known for her ethereal vocals and fusion of classical and contemporary sounds, took to her Instagram in March to share the exciting news with her fans.

“UK make plans! We are back at Glastonbury, June 2024,” joyously announced the 39-year-old in her IG post, sharing a poster with her picture for the event. Aftab also shared the highly-anticipated line-up in the carousel post, promising performances from a number of old and new artists including LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey and Cyndi Lauper.

Female acts will fill two of the three headline slots at Britain's Glastonbury Festival for the first time in June when Dua Lipa and SZA top the bill alongside rock band Coldplay, organisers said on Thursday.

Country pop star Shania Twain will take the Sunday afternoon "legend" slot. British-Albanian Dua Lipa, whose hits include New Rules and One Kiss, will make her Pyramid Stage debut shortly after the release of her third album, Radical Optimism.
