Sydney Sweeney responds to producer Carol Baum’s comments that she is “not pretty” and “can’t act”
"Euphoria" actress Sydney Sweeney has responded to Carol Baum’s comments criticising her appearance and acting skills.
Baum is a well-known Hollywood producer, famous for movies like "Father of the Bride" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
According to Daily Mail, during a discussion at a screening of her 1988 film "Dead Ringers," Baum reportedly called the “White Lotus” actress "not pretty" and questioned her acting abilities, particularly in Sweeney's latest movie, "Anyone but You."
“I watched this unwatchable movie- sorry to people who love this movie - [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other,” Baum allegedly said.

The producer, who teaches a producing class at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, also said she expressed confusion to her students about Sweeney's popularity:
“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me,’” Baum reportedly told the crowd. “ ‘She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’”
She concluded: “Nobody had an answer.”
A spokesperson for Sweeney has responded to Baum's comments, stating to Variety, “How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman.”
The spokesperson also added, “if that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”
Baum has reportedly expressed regret for her remarks, according to TMZ. She is said to feel “regret” for her comments, adding that “She wishes she never would’ve made her original comments.”
