‘Ishq Murshid’ final ever episode out in cinemas on May 3
According to local media and eagle-eyed fans who have spotted posters in cinemas, the final ever episode of television drama serial Ishq Murshid will be released in theatres on Friday May 3. The show will reportedly air on television and online two days after its theatre release.
Directed by Farooq Rind, the drama premiered on television screens in October 2023, starring Bilal Abbas Khan as Fazal Bakhsh/Shahmeer Sikandar and Durefishan Saleem as Shibra Suleman. Ishq Murshid follows the trajectory of the son of a politician falling in love with a girl who abhors the corrupt political system. In order to win her affections, he presents himself to the girl of his dreams as an ordinary man.
Upon release of the first episode, the show initially received mixed reviews from critics and viewers alike. Fans across social media expressed the view that the plot was “cliched” and “predictable” and complained about the lack of chemistry between the two leads. Others lamented that it was only the male lead who carried the whole show, and slammed the female protagonist as a “forgettable” character. However, despite the lukewarm reception of the plot and characters, according to an Instagram post by Hum TV, the Ishq Murshid soundtrack has become the “fastest Pakistani OST to cross 100 million views on YouTube.”
With the news that the final episode is inching towards release, loyal fans of the show across social media have expressed their sadness that the story is coming to a close. Sharing posters of the upcoming episode online, one fan took to X to express their disappointment at being unable to watch the premier as soon as it arrived. Praising the performance of both Bilal and Durefishan throughout the show, the fan wrote about the frustration of real life getting in the way of getting to see the episode in the cinema.
